Issey Miyake Watches

Miyake’s unwavering approach to creation is the freedom to have ideas, unconstrained by any preexisting rules or framework, and to be able to make them realities through a tenacious process of research and experimentation.

The Miyake Design Studio, established by clothing designer Issey Miyake in 1970, has devoted itself to making clothing that challenges preconceived ideas of design by using traditional artisans’ techniques, as well as the latest technologies. The idea behind our endeavors is the goal to try to ‘make things that bring joy, excitement as well as comfort to people’s everyday lives.’ Design is ever in motion, never static. We pursue new ideas and always search for new ways by which design can serve our needs in the present. We achieve this, only by promoting curiosity and an open exchange of feelings and ideas.

Miyake works in a manner that not only advances his own ideas but also cultivates skills in the people around him, constantly pushing both the tradition and the evolution of design.

Working in collaboration with top designers, the Issey Miyake watch collections is truly breathtaking. The VUE collection by Yves Behar, the HU collection by Ross Lovegrove, the Go, Trapezoid and Twelve collections by Nauto Fukasawa, the To collection by Tokujin Yoshioka, the Vakio Collection by Harri Koskinen and the Insetto collection by Shunji Yamanaka are all true testemonies to the belief in freedom of creation and freedom from preexisting rules.
